Apple Music Replay 2022
I love stalking everyone's Wrapped, so I thought breaking down my top hits for the year would be fun

Overview
I admit that Apple is ten steps behind Spotify when it comes to stats presentation, but at least we finally got an aesthetically pleasing Replay. Once we get the cute things, like the music festival lineup, I'll really be happy, but I'll take what I can get for now.

Top Genres
Biggest Shock: Soundtrack
I am a pop girly; I always have been and always will be. So, pop as my top genre didn't come as a surprise.
Hip-hop and R&B have always been consistent genres for me so their presence isn't a shock either.
Alternative is ranked higher than usual this year, but I'm not mad at it.
I got into soundtracks after I bought the Call Me By Your Name vinyl, and I found them to be good to listen to while doing written assignments. I guess I had more of them than I thought.

Top Songs
Biggest Shock: "Angel Baby"
I listened to a LOT of new music this year. Almost all of my top songs of 2022 have been new discoveries. Here are my top 10.
10. "White Mercedes" by Charli XCX
Charli XCX has finally made a return to my top songs after "After The Afterparty (feat. Lil Yachty)" was ranked eighth on my 2017 replay. The number of plays this got at 3 am... tragic.
Asylum Records

9. "Put It Down" by Jazmine Sullivan
My favourite track off Heaux Tales! I couldn't really relate to any of it, but it was on repeat regardless.

RCA
8. "Nonsense" by Sabrina Carpenter
After my first listen, I knew this would be a hit, and I had the time of my life singing along at the concert. Her outro for Toronto ate!

Island Records
7. "Cuff It" by Beyoncé
My favourite song off of Renaissance and one of my favourite Beyoncé songs ever. I played it literally every second of the day this past summer because it's just so much fun! Also, the BRIDGE?!?!?!?! Absolutely INSANE.

Parkwood Entertainment / Columbia
6. "Dominic's Interlude" by Dominic Fike & Halsey
This song sounds SO cool and I wish it were longer because Dominic ate this UP.

Capitol
5. "Socks" by Dominic Fike
Dominic Fike will be hearing from my lawyer for leaving this out of the setlist. This is definitely a favourite to scream and cry to at 3 am.

Columbia
4. "Angel Baby" by Troye Sivan
I don't think I've ever consciously listened to Troye Sivan before this year, but somehow, someway, this song made it into the top 5.

Columbia
3. "Quiet" by The Orignal Matilda Broadway Cast
I had to perform this song for my vocal final.

RSC
2. "Drew Barrymore" by SZA
This is the third consecutive year this song has been in my Replay top 100. It jumped quite a few places this year because I had to perform it for my vocal final, but it's also just one of my favourite songs ever.

Top Dawg Entertainment / RCA
1. "Gorgegous" by Taylor Swift
I need this song injected into my veins. I literally couldn't function if I didn't hear it at least once a day.
Big Machine

Top Albums
Biggest Shock: The Batman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
So, I branched out a little bit! Here are my top ten albums of 2022.
10. Matilda the Musical by The Original Matilda Broadway Cast
I needed a lot of practice.
RSC

9. SOS by Sza
SOS literally came out 3 days ago... I really hope it's not her last because this album was TOO good, and I need more from Miss Solana.
Top Dawg Entertainment / RCA

8. Don't Forget About Me, Demos by Dominic Fike
DFAMD was constantly on repeat. I honestly wouldn't have gotten through the year without it.
Columbia

7. Heroes & Villains (Heroes Version) by Metro Boomin
Once the instrumental versions dropped, they instantly became my new study tracks. I literally had this album on repeat during my exams.
Republic Records

6. Her Loss by Drake & 21 Savage
I didn't get it the first listen, but I was obsessed after the second. Also, driving to this album is top-tier.
OVO / Republic Records

5. What Could Possibly Go Wrong by Dominic Fike
I didn't love WCPGW when I first listened to it, but something clicked during my revisit while prepping for the concert, and now I can't live without it. Hearing "Wurli" live was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
Columbia

4. Heroes and Villains by Metro Boomin
It's kind of annoying that these don't count as the same album, but I was too lazy to replace the songs in my playlists with their deluxe version, so here we are. Also, "Niagara Falls," is now my entire personality.
Republic Records

3. Emails I Can't Send by Sabrina Carpenter
I love everything about Emails I can't Send. This is by far Sabrina's best work and I'm so excited for her! I already saw her tour this album but she just announced new dates for the second leg, so best believe, I'll be seeing her again.
Island Records

2. The Batman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by Michael Giacchino
This was the main album I listened to while doing my homework but I never thought it would make the top ten, let alone the top two. It really is an excellent score so I hope it wins an Oscar.
WaterTower

1. Renaissance by Beyoncé
This should come as a surprise to no one. Even Pitchfork agrees that Renaissance is the album of the year. The Recording Academy better come correct this Grammys season and I'm so serious.
Parkwood Entertainment / Columbia

Top Artists
Biggest Shock: Metro Boomin
This category has been the most consistent, but there have been some new additions. Here are my top 10.
10. AJR
AJR has been in my top 10 since 2019 and this is the lowest they've ever been so far. I was going to say they lost their title as my favourite band, but there are no other bands on any of these lists so I guess they still hold that title. Also, their show in Vegas was fantastic!
Apple Music

9. Rex Orange County
I remember talking to one of my friends about how Rex Orange County is a good artist to like because he's unproblematic...
8. Doja Cat
Miss Amala has hits on hits on HITS. Her pulling out of The Weeknd's tour was devastating, but Planet Her made this year so much more fun!
Apple Music

7. Mac Miller
I miss Mac more and more every day. I don't know why it took me so long to appreciate GO:OD AM, but it's ridiculously underrated. I don't care what anyone says, that album is top 3 in the discography and it's not 3.
Apple Music

6. Metro Boomin
I LOVED the new album but the fact he made the top ten when it came out less than two weeks ago is crazy.
Apple Music

5. Dominic Fike
I impulsively bought tickets to Dominic Fike's Toronto show without being familiar with his discography, but during the concert prep, I became obsessed. I totally see Dominic becoming a permanent fave in the future.
Apple Music

4. Ariana Grande
Ariana has BEEN a staple, like that's queenie. Could she have put a little more effort into promoting the Positions era? Yes, but I'll always be there to hold it down for Miss ponytail.
Apple Music

3. Kanye West
As much as I don't want to admit it, #that man's discography is a fundamental part of my being.
2. Beyoncé
Since releasing Lemonade, Beyoncé has been a constant in my rotation, but I knew after hearing Renaissance she would end up top three this year.
Parkwood Entertainment / Columbia

1. Taylor Swift
Blondie has held this spot for two consecutive years now, which I guess makes me a Swiftie (?). Honestly, where would I be without Speak Now, 1989 and Folklore?
Apple Music
