Behind the Net by Stephanie Archer - 4/5 🪩

Behind the Net started off as a decent romance. Then, it became so bad that it was actually kind of good. However, about halfway through, it completely dropped off. It was physically painful to get through the last quarter. Going into it, I obviously knew I wouldn't be reading peak literature, but what a disaster! The main problem with these types of romances is that neither love interest are likeable so you have absolutely nothing to root for. Usually, there's a likeable side character that kind of keeps your attention, but the other characters in Behind the Net were kind of boring. The only interesting person was the main hockey guy's ex-best friend (I can't even be bothered to find the names), but even he only started being semi-entertaining near the middle. Even though I wanted to read the next book in the series because of the teaser chapter, I think it's in my best interest to put bad romances (and probably romances in general) down for the foreseeable future. I need to start reading real books. The fact I consider myself a reader but Carrie Soto is Back is still my only book rec is so fraudulent. I'm hoping I have better content for the summer.
