Erasure by Percival Everett - 4/5 🪩
This book was ahead of its time for REAL. Honestly, I don't know if there will ever be a time when it won't apply. My mom and I chose Erasure as our Black History Month read after watching (and loving) the film in January. Now that I've experienced both, I can say that the film is an excellent adaptation. It kept the integrity of the book while making it more digestible for a general audience. I loved the rawness of the book, but there were several times I had to stop listening for the day to keep my peace. I don't love endings left up for interpretation.

The Quantum Weirdness of the Almost-Kiss by Amy Noelle Parks - 3.5/5 🪩
This book had SERIOUS potential. I don't usually like friends-to-lovers, but this take was an interesting one. I thought the concept of the 'almost kiss' was cute! Also, having the love interest date someone else for the majority is a new one for me. The first half was BRILLIANT. The characters, the dialogue, the setting -- perfection. It's unfortunate that the second half was a disaster because Quantum Weirdness was really on its way to becoming one of my faves.
