FLO put on one of the best concerts I have ever seen, and they need to come back ASAP!

Pre The Opera House

This was the third and final concert that I went to during exam week and let me just tell you, my back was against the wall. I had my English final due the next day at 5 pm, and all I had so far was a sketchy outline.

OTW to The Opera House

The weather was horrible so I took a chance and got to the venue about three and a half hours before doors at 7 pm. The commute to the venue was only like 10 minutes which slayed the day.

@ The Opera House

I had planned to work on my essay before my friend Shahaddah came to meet me in the line, but the snow made that difficult. Ten minutes into lining up, I started talking to the BEST Homsense employees who were standing behind me, and all hope of being productive was lost.

Though I was freezing, my new line friends made the wait a little less miserable. Our group of three tripled in a couple of hours, and the last hour or so felt like a block party.

I ran to the merch table as soon as I got inside, but they didn't have the poster I wanted which was annoying.

Post The Opera House

After FLO left the stage, everyone was in denial that the show was actually. It took a bit for us to realize that FLO didn't have enough songs for an encore. As Shahaddah and I were about to head out, she spotted Samaria taking pictures with fans. Of course, we wanted pictures with her too, so we ran over. Samaria is such a lovely individual (who also smells really good), and now we have bragging rights for the future.

Shahaddah told me earlier that she had been a fan of FLO since before the release of their first single, "Cardboard Box," and was adamant about meeting them. I told her that our best bet was to wait it out and see if they would greet fans before they left the venue.

As it turns out, EVERYONE was keen on meeting FLO. COPS was across the street, so Shahaddah, her friend and I planned to get donuts while waiting so we could stay warm. However, as I was placing my order, Shahaddah spotted Jorja, and we had to run out of the store before I could finish placing my order.

Somehow, Someway, we made our way through the crowd and got pictures with her. We didn't get to talk much because there were a lot of people waiting, but Jorja was super nice. Shahaddah then miraculously spotted Stella, and we finessed photos with her too.

I'm so grateful that I was able to end first year with such a special experience and I can't wait until FLO tours again!

Coincidently, I followed Samaria on Twitter a few days before she announced she was opening for FLO. Her set was cute! Samaria covered Lauryn Hill's "Ex-Factor," which everyone ate up. Her banter in between songs was perfect, and it was clear she was born to perform. Now that exams are over, I can't wait to tap into the rest of her discography.

Shoutout to the DJ because the music around the sets was SO good. They really understood their audience.

I don't know what it was about the past few concerts that week, but they all had abnormally good crowds. However, the audience at FLO definitely takes the cake. I don't think I've ever been to a concert with fans that loud. The crowd's energy was deafening from start to finish.

FLO opened with "Summertime," and it really was a vibe (IYKYK). They performed all the songs from their EP, The Lead, a couple of unreleased songs and a cover of "Superstar," by Jameila. Their vocals were immaculate, and those mics were ON. They're running circles around their peers with their harmonies alone. And don't even get me started on the choreo. I almost collapsed when they brought out the chairs. They were so professional and polished that I forgot which venue we were in. Their performance really gave arena tour. If you are a pop/R&B girly and haven't tapped into FLO, do so IMMEDIATELY.

OTW Home

Though I should've started on my essay as soon as I got back, I spent an hour doing absolutely nothing with my roommate Sara.

I still don't know how I did on it, but I passed the class, so it couldn't have been too bad.

I was worried that Renée didn't come out, but I was able to spot her just amongst a swarm of stans. She announced that she was leaving soon so the chances of meeting her were looking slim. Luckily, someone let us join her photo so we all got to meet Renée (THANK YOU IVY).

After all of the excitement, we went back to COPS to pick up my donuts. We also talked to some of the FLO Bros (FLO's band), before going home.
