The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards
Another successful campaign
So, The Emmys happened! Trevor Noah hosted again, and I'm still unsure of how I feel about it. I like Trevor, but I feel like we could use another respectable Black person to host award shows. I mean, Issa Rae was right there. Anyways, the winners were predictable for the most part but the amount of wins The Bear racked up this awards season was INSANE. This is probably my most successful campaign yet.
Outstanding Comedy Series
Who I wanted to win: The Bear
Who won: The Bear
I'm a little sad that Abbott Elementary will probably never win this category again as long as The Bear is in the running. However, I LOVE The Bear, so I'm also happy with this win.
Outstanding Drama Series
Who I wanted to win: Yellowjackets
Who won: Succession
Okay, I'm not THAT delusional. Of course, I knew Succession had this category on lock. But, a girl can dream!
Outstanding Reality Competition Program
Who I wanted to win: RuPaul's Drag Race
Who won: RuPaul's Drag Race
Well, yes! I'm so glad I finally got into Drag Race because this is QUALITY television.
Outstanding Talk Series
Who I wanted to win: The Late Show with Stephen Cobert
Who won: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
Now, I don't watch The Daily Show, and I don't religiously watch The Late Show. However, Stephen usually gives the best interviews during press tours, so I wanted him to finally get a win. But I'm also not going to complain about the only Black person in the category taking the Emmy. Also, I'm just glad John Oliver is finally out of the category.
Outstanding Lead Actor
Who I wanted to win: Jeremy Allen White
Who won: Jeremy Allen White
I just KNOW Jason Sudeikis was bitter after Ted Lasso left with no main-category Emmys. I've never seen a single episode, but I'm relieved that the reign of terror is finally over.
Outstanding Lead Actress
Who I wanted to win: Quinta Brunson
Who won: Quinta Brunson
Yeah, that's queenie.
Outstanding Supporting Actor
Who I wanted to win: Ebon Moss-Bachrach
Who won: Ebon Moss-Bachrach
Again, Tyler will probably never win this Emmy again as long as Ebon is in the category, but Ebon IS the comedy, so I'm glad he was recognized for his outstanding work.
Outstanding Supporting Actress
Who I wanted to win: Ayo Edebiri
Who won: Ayo Edebiri
I really hope Janelle James wins an Emmy for playing Ava at some point during the series run.
