The Bear
Season 2
I rewatched season one in preparation for the new season, but clearly, I wasn't paying attention enough. It's pretty evident in the live tweets that there are a few people I forgot about (oops).
I have several thoughts about this season, but not too many about Claire. DKM but I actually didn't mind her that much. I mean, she was kind of annoying at times, but I don't know, she was cute! She should've left Carmy alone after he gave her the wrong number though.
My main focus lay with Sydney because that's queenie for real. I may or may not be in love with Ayo Edebiri, but regardless, Sydney is the best character on The Bear. That restaurant didn't stand a chance without her. Literally, her supposed business partner couldn't even call the fridge guy (more on Carmy later). Though she is the superior character, I can recognize that Sydney is not without her faults. Was she jealous of Claire? Yes. Was her ignoring Marcus problematic? Absolutely. However, I loved watching her character develop and seeing some of her home life and some of the factors that shape her character (she and her dad are so cute). I'm still waiting for her episode though, so I hope the writers know that needs to be included next season.
I also loved getting to see Tina grow and try new things. I almost cried when Sydney asked her to be her sous. I DID sob when Tina talked to Ebra about culinary school though.
Okay, can we please talk about the most impressive character redemption arc in probably the history of television? If you told me, that I would like, let alone tolerate Richie anytime before I watched season two episode seven, I would've NEVER believed you. Like ever. "Forks," was one of the best episodes of television I've ever watched. It was even better than Marcus's episode, "Honeydew," which was fantastic. I was sad that Richie had to leave that restaurant because I loved seeing him actually belong somewhere. Oh and don't even get me started on the guest actors. Perfection on perfection on perfection. And that applies to all the episodes this season. The Bear has world-class casting directors for real.
Don't think I forgot about the Bear himself. I don't have much for Carmy which is why I left him for the end, but I'm glad he got stuck in that fridge. Imagine being more useless than old Richie, that's insane.
