Endless Summer Vacation by Miley Cyrus - 6.6

I usually listen to an album three times so I can rank it, but I wasn't inspired to do so this time around. I was SO excited for Miley's new album after Plastic Hearts went number one on my phone. I thought we were gonna get another hit when "Flowers" dropped, but literally, no one has talked about the album since it was released. It's not that it's bad, because Miley doesn't make bad music, but it's mediocre which might actually be worse. Though most of it's forgettable, I do have a few favourites:

  • "You"

  • "River"

  • "Muddy Feet (feat. Sia)"

4TH WALL by Ruel - 8.0

This may be a shock to some, but I've been listening to Ruel since 2019. So, of course, I was super excited to listen to his debut album. I am absolutely OBSESSED with this project! I was impressed with the improvement in songwriting and enjoyed the variety of songs. I've been constantly playing the album on repeat and I even upgraded my tour ticket because I need to be barricade when I hear my favourite tracks live. These include:

  • "JAPANESE WHISKEY"

  • "WISH I HAD YOU"

  • "MUST BE NICE"

CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: THE ESTATE SALE by Tyler, The Creator - 8.6

I kept telling myself that I'd listen to CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST tomorrow, and then tomorrow turned into two years. Anyways, I somehow ended up on TylerTok and I couldn't escape "DOGTOOTH" and "SORRY NOT SORRY," so I finally gave the album a listen. I CANNOT believe I've been missing out on this excellence for so long! The deluxe tracks were some of the best on the album, so I'm glad he decided to put them out. I love them all, but my favourite song is "WHARF TALK (feat. A$AP Rocky)".

emails i can't send: fwd by Sabrina Carpenter - 7.2

I already loved the album, so I was HYPED when Sabrina announced the deluxe. I didn't mind the new tracks, but after a few listens only "Feather" and "Lonesome" really stuck with me. I saw a lot of people on Twitter say they liked "things i wish you'd said," so maybe it just needs a little more time to marinate. Regardless, I'm super excited to see her again on tour in May!

The Social Network (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture) by Trevor Reznor & Atticus Ross - 7.6

Penelope from across the hall recommended this to me because she says listening to it while walking makes her feel like the main character. But, Penelople's from NY, so I feel like she's already the main character by default. Anyways, I really liked the movie and I needed a new homework album, so this was cute!

Other things I listened to:

  • LOUIE by Kenny Beats

  • SCARING THE HOES by JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown

  • "Giftbag" by Redveil

  • "My Year of Rest & Relaxation" by ggwendoyln

  • "I Believed It" by dvsn, Ty Dolla $ign & Mac Miller

  • "Red Ruby Da Sleeze" by Nicki Minaj

  • "We Go Down Together" by Dove Cameron & Khalid

  • "RICKEY" by Denzel Curry

  • "Down For You" by Cosmo's Midnight & Ruel

  • "too many feelings" by Ruel

  • "My Affection" by Summer Walker & PARTYNEXTDOOR

  • "Feel Good (feat. Omar Apollo)" by Kopano

  • "Care" by benny blanco & Omar Apollo

  • "Ipanema (feat. Omar Apollo & Elujay)" by Still Woozy

  • "Onetime!" by Elujay

  • "Nonsense (Remix)" by Sabrina Carpenter & Coi Leray

Highlights

This month's Faves

Song of the Month: "Useless" by Omar Apollo

I will NEVER get tired of this song. I need it injected into my veins NOW. The opening guitar riff is levitation-inducing, and I'm so sad that I missed it during his set because I don't know how much longer I can go on without hearing it live.

Album of the Month: Ivory by Omar Apollo

This album got me through so much this month it's actually insane. The fact I missed the Prototype tour will haunt me for the rest of my life because now I'll probably never hear all the songs I need to live. I encourage you to listen to it because as excellent as it is, I promise he has better songs than "Evergreen".

Artist of the Month: Omar Apollo

King won the other two categories and became my number-one Replay artist in less than a month, so it's only fitting that he got Artist of the Month too. I actually love him so much like that's an icon for real.
