Fruitcake by Sabrina Carpenter - 7.3

I was in desperate need of some new Christmas music, and Sabrina delivered! I loved A Nonsense Christmas, so I was super excited for an entire holiday EP. I didn't initially love "santa doesn't know you like i do," but after watching the music video featuring Henry Eikenberry, I was sold. I get the vision now. Also, "is it new years yet?" is SUCH a cute song. My coworkers are gonna be so sick of me because I WILL be playing this project on loop all through the winter.

Other things I listened to:

  • "Dead Air" by Peter McPoland

  • "Make Love" by Gucci Mane & Nicki Minaj

The Maybe Man by AJR - 7.9

I forgot this album was even coming out because I was so convinced I outgrew AJR. While that may be true in regards to aesthetics and their fanbase, the music seemed to grow with me. Truthfully, I didn't think I would like this album. It's no Neotheater, but 10 seconds into "Maybe Man," I was taken right back to middle school when I discovered them for the first time and was instantly reminded why I was so obsessed. Though their music doesn't really align with the rest of my music library, I now know that I'll always have an affinity for AJR. My favourites on the album are "Inertia," "Hole in the Bottom of My Brain," "Steve's Going to London" and "God is Really Real.

"Cobra" by Megan Thee Stallion - 7.0

I didn't like "Cobra" when I first listened to it, but after taking a break and revisiting, I now get the vision. Megan is BACK and is not here to play. What a bold comeback single! I can't wait to see what she has in store for the hotties in this era.

Hot Girl Productions

The First Time by The Kid Laroi - 6.5

The Kid Laroi is still trying to find his sound. There are moments of his old self, like "WHAT'S THE MOVE?". "BLEED" and "WHAT JUST HAPPENED" could've easily been on the F-- Love trilogy. There are also songs like "TOO MUCH" that are super generic-pop-sounding. I love a project that experiments, but there isn't really anything that ties all of the songs together. While there are some great tracks like "TEAR ME APART," as a whole, it sounds like an identity crisis.

Columbia

"Houdini" by Dua Lipa- 6.8

I don't know when Miss Girl had time for the studio in between all of her vacations, but she's back again with another pop hit! I know it would sound AMAZING in the club.

"Northern Attitude" by Noah Kahan & Hozier - 7.6

I'M SO HAPPY NOAH KAHAN IS GETTING EVERYTHING HE DESERVES. I'm so jealous of whatever city got to hear this live, but this collab is SO good. Their voices sound fantastic together.

"Lovin On Me" by Jack Harlow - 5.5

I don't know how to explain this, but this song is SO Jack Harlow that it's almost TOO Jack Harlow. The chorus is cute but the rest...
