XOXO, Cody - 3.5/5 🪩

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this on the blog, but I'm a Peloton girly DOWN. After a couple of classes, I landed on one of Cody's pop rides, and I was HOOKED. Those 30-minute rides got me through the pandemic for real. So, when I saw that my favourite instructor was releasing a memoir, I ran to Audible as soon as it was released.

I had fun! Cody gave us an extended XO Cody ride minus the blood, sweat, and tears, so how could I not? Cody's memoir wasn't revolutionary, but it was real. It was a little choppy at times, but it was cohesive enough to extract the messages in the anecdotes. He also gave some pretty solid advice that I've already started applying in my own life.

American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis- 4/5 🪩

I've been meaning to watch American Psycho, for years now but I never got around to it. After discussing a scene in my Hollywood and Society class, I thought it might finally be time. I'm not really a horror gal so I decided to read the book first to see if I could handle the film. Spoiler: I almost threw up on the street.

I thought listening to the audio would give me the most preparation for watching it but, OMG, some of the scenes were beyond gruesome. I'm already extremely squeamish so more than 70% of the book was torture to listen to.

I thought American Psycho had a strong start, but the plot was as it got closer to the end. Maybe that was an artistic choice, but I was bored regardless. Brett could've cut at least 50 pages because at one point, I didn't think it was ever going to end.

I've yet to watch the film, but after reading the book, I think I could maybe, kinda sorta get through it okay.
